The Effects of Home Staging
Here are some of the key takeaways from the 2023 Profile of Home Staging by NAR:
While 81% of buyers' agents reported that staging a home made it easier for a buyer to visualize the property as a future home, only 23% of sellers' agents said they staged all of their homes prior to listing them. 10% of sellers' agents reported staging only the homes that were difficult to sell.
The most commonly staged rooms in a home were reportedly the living room (91%), the kitchen (81%), the primary bedroom (81%), and the dining room (69%).
Seventy-three percent of respondents said that TV shows displaying the buying process impacted their business by setting unrealistic expectations or increased expectations. A median of 10% of respondents stated that buyers were disappointed by how homes looked compared to the homes they saw on TV shows.
