A digital profile is composed of the professional and personal information publicly available on the internet. This may include, and is not limited to, your real estate website, your listings, your social media profiles, and your business information. The compilation of this information forms your digital profile and may be made up of hundreds of touchpoints.
If you're just starting to manage your digital profile, we suggest focusing on the following platforms:
1) LinkedIn Profile
Approximately 1.8 million Realtors® are using LinkedIn as a means for networking, advertising, and maintaining a digital presence. LinkedIn is the professional's social media platform. It's a place to document your experience, skills, and accomplishments, connect with other professionals, and share your personalized brand of real estate.
Action Item: Update your LinkedIn profile more frequently than your resumé, with accomplishments, experience, and a post about your real estate business.
2) Google Business Profile
Have you ever googled your business? A Google Business Profile is a FREE tool that brings your real estate business to the forefront of Google Searching. A Google Business Profile may exist for your Business whether you've created it or not, so it's important to claim your business and keep the information as up-to-date as possible.
In a Google Business Profile, all of your business' most basic information is available: your business name, phone number, website, address, hours of operation, services, photos and reviews. Within the profile, searchers are invited to call you directly, visit your website, get directions to your office, share your profile with others, and review your business.
Action Item: Add or claim your Business Profile on Google and update your contact information, your address, and your business services.
3) Facebook Business Page
While a Facebook Business Page is not necessary for success in the real estate industry, if you have an existing Business Page, it is critical that your page be up-to-date. The same can be said for Facebook Profile Pages that are used to promote your business. Your Facebook Business page is a reflection of your business and serves as a major component of your digital profile. In particular, photos are a large part of any business' Facebook presence.
Action Item: Review the pictures posted on your Facebook Business Page. (Click here for directions to create a Facebook Business Page.) Ensure your profile picture is a current, professional headshot and that the information on the page is an accurate reflection of who you are today, your business and brand persona.
